Installation

How to disconnect a washing machine

Here's what you'll need:

  • Towel
  • Bucket
  • Pliers or a wrench
  • Blanking disc/cap - you can buy this from your local hardware shop if you no longer have the one that came with the washing machine.

Unplug old appliance

Carefully shuffle your old appliance out from its home and unplug it from the socket. Turn off your water supply and grab yourself a bucket and a towel.

Disconnect hose pipe from machine

Take out the blue water hose pipe from the back of the machine. This is where the bucket comes in - tip any remaining water from the pipe into the bucket.

Disconnect hose pipe from wall

Using pliers or a wrench, remove the other end of the water hose from the wall. Empty any remaining water from the hose in your bucket.

Take out drain hose

Remove the drain hose from the waste pipe under or near your sink and pour out the wastewater.

Cap off water pipe

Screw the blanking cap (a flat disc shaped screw) onto the waterpipe to prevent any leaks.

How to connect a washing machine

Learn how to install your washing machine

We've put together a step-by-step installation guide. So, once your new washing machine arrives, you'll be able to get it set up and ready to clean your clothes.

Take out old appliance

First of all, you need to uninstall the old washing machine – see our guide above on disconnection.

Remove transit bolts

Next you'll want to remove the transit bolts from your new washing machine. There should be between 3 and 5, and you'll find them at the back of your appliance.

Attach cold water pipe

Screw in the cold water-in-pipe at the top of the back of your machine, and then screw the other end to your cold-water supply. Make sure both sides are fastened tight. Now you can turn on the water-in valve to let water flow through the pipe.

Connect wastewater hose

The wastewater hose will already be attached to the back of your machine and just needs feeding into the wastewater down pipe. Check the pipes for leaks throughout this process to make sure everything is properly in place.

Plug in

Plug your machine in and push it back into place. Grab a spirit level and make sure your machine's level. If it's not, then adjust the legs at the bottom until it is. Running a wash in an unlevel machine can be damaging.

Done!

Now you can put that first load on.

How to fit a door on an integrated washing machine

Here's what you'll need:

  • Fixings - supplied with your new washing machine
  • Template - again, this should come with your new appliance
  • Pencil
  • Drill

Check kit

First, you'll want to make sure you have all the necessary parts to fit the door, these should be included with your machine.

Mark where the top sits

Hold your furniture door in place where you want to install it. Now mark along with a pencil where the top of the machine is so you can line up the hole template just right.

Line up your template

Place the hole template on the back of your furniture door. Make sure you have it the right way up, with the top edge lining up with the top edge of your machine.

Drill holes

Mark and drill the relevant holes so that you can fit the fixings to the door. Make sure you mark the door correctly, so it opens the way you want.

Attach the hinges

Now you can attach the hinges to your furniture door along with the small metal magnet strips that keep it shut. Attach some of the metal magnet strips to your appliance on the opposite side to where the hinges will fit.

Attach the door

Fit the hinged door to your machine by screwing it into the access points on the front of the machine.
